High Blood Pressure
Many people are walking around with a time bomb called Hypertension or High Blood Pressure. This is commonly known as the silent killer since few symptoms precede a deadly heart attack. The two major organs that work in harmony to manage normal blood pressure are the heart and the kidneys. In the medical world two specialists who manage these organs are the cardiologists (heart) and nephrologists (kidney). The heart pumps blood throughout the body while the kidneys clean it
If you have a blood pressure monitor at home, use it. Best time to take your blood pressure is once in the morning and at least in the evening and if time allows in the afternoon as well. Why, well, it is called a monitor for a reason, it provides a running level of how your blood pressure manages stress during the day. Click here to learn what blood pressure means. The American Heart Association has these guidelines to manage hypertension.
The normal numbers advised by the American Heart Association  is 120 over 80, The links above explain what these numbers mean, how the heart and kidneys work together and the dangers of chronic hypertension. Below, I will include links concerning how best to manage your blood pressure which includes diet and nutrition, foods to eat and avoid, relaxation and meditation, sodium (salt), exercise and weight.
You may wonder how chiropractic care helps with hypertension but there is a physiological and neurological reason for this and simply put, the body works at its best with less neurological tension, which we call a subluxation.  There are many adjusting techniques one of which is upper cervical concentrating on the Atlas and Axis vertebrae, below the skull. Dr. Nore and I use the Activator instrument which helps this area as well. The links below are a number of chiropractors discussing their experience helping patients with hypertension.
